Mindfulness at work

Mindfulness is a great way to improve many aspects of life

The method is not Buddhist as people assume or based only on spiritual and mystical aspirations. It simply refers to meditation as a simple, research-based mindfulness training that provides an environment in which to learn effective methods of coping and unburdening our bodies and minds.

Turning our attention inward helps us understand what’s going on inside us, and sometimes provides answers even when we initially feel like we have “no way out.” Such situations often arise in the workplace when we are trying to perform a certain way or when we are working under pressure and criticism. The whole on one foot is to adapt our actions to what we really want to achieve.

On average, 1 in 5 people will be affected by a mental health problem during their lifetime. In the post-Corona era, employers are becoming more aware of the importance of mental health in the workplace.
The world of work has seen a dramatic shift. With many employees returning from sick leave and others working from home, it seems that work-life hybrids.

Let us take an ordinary situation where you have to produce or display a product in the workplace. In this situation, the main issue is not to stand alone in a line or present an unsatisfactory result.
Using a mindfulness technique, it is possible to assess the range of possible responses to the situation and their effectiveness in resolving it, based on past experience.

The main idea in applying mindfulness in the workplace is to interrupt the automatic flow of life, to pause and reflect, even in moments when the environment demands a quick response. The serenity that inner listening creates heightens the senses and allows us to make rational decisions while acknowledging our subjective limitations.

In today’s world of achievement and competition, we have become accustomed to punishing ourselves for our failures, that is, to condemning ourselves. The method, on the other hand, requires us to do the opposite – even if we fail to focus on breathing, we must let go and let go now. Without judging. It does not help if we get angry or feel guilty or unsuccessful in the practice. Besides, the goal is to start and practice it so that we can then extend the skill we have acquired in practice to our functioning at work and elsewhere in life.

Studies in the field of neuropsychology show how mindfulness changes the physical structure of the brain and thickens gray matter in areas related to attention, information processing, speed of response and memory. Practicing mindfulness allows us to be actively attentive to the things we choose, rather than giving emphasis and space to what is not. It is possible to reduce judgment and let unwanted things affect us less. Relax quickly and disconnect from troubling thoughts.

You do not have to sit on a cushion in lotus position to practice mindfulness meditation. You can also practice mindfulness while walking down the street, driving, on your lunch break in the middle of a busy day, in a meeting, in a conversation, and much more. Every worker can help improve both their professional skills and their personal well-being with even a few minutes of practice a day.

When we cannot practice mindfulness in an organization?

As always, if you are planning a training activity or service for your employees, it is important that you do it properly together.
If the activity is lame in advance, sometimes it is better not to offer such an activity, incomplete and disorganized offerings can be seen as an attempt to get out of hand.
At Tawazon, we are committed to providing employees with psychoeducational information, theoretical rationale and evidence of the employee’s personal benefit.
It is not enough to invite a well-being guide to lead the group. Our training is led by our psychologists and neuroscientists along with our meditation and mindfulness experts.
Tawazon is dedicated to providing useful and proven tools and techniques that can help your organization achieve greater stability, resilience and a joyful work culture, along with personal growth and awareness.
