Correct breathing is healthy breathing that provides the body with energy, activity, and vitality, and frees the body from negative thoughts. It is the breathing that grants a person comfort and relaxation, allowing them to inhale everything they want through the nose and exhale what disturbs their peace.

Every exercise has a secret to its success, and correct breathing exercises have secrets that must be observed to achieve good results, including:

  1. It is preferable to wear loose clothing if possible.
  2. Be in nature or a quiet, well-ventilated place with dim lighting.
  3. Stand straight, then inhale through the nose.
  4. Hold the air in the lungs for a few seconds.
  5. Exhale slowly through the mouth in two stages.
  6. Place your hands on your abdomen to feel the air moving in and out of the body.
  7. Contract the muscles during inhalation and exhalation.
  8. Write down your worries on paper and tear it up while breathing, as if releasing them forever.

Methods of Correct Breathing

Correct breathing requires multiple exercises and training to master it well over time. After learning the secrets of correct breathing, you can begin one of the following methods depending on your goal:

  1. Correct breathing for sleep and relaxation: Lie on your back, fully relaxed and clear your mind of all thoughts, focusing only on comfort. Then take a deep inhale through your nose for 8 seconds, mentally moving your breath through your body parts, hold your breath for 8 seconds, and then exhale slowly for another 8 seconds.
  2. Correct breathing to release negative energy and relieve stress: There are several ways to do this, as follows:
  • First method: Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 10 seconds, then exhale over 5 seconds. You can increase the duration according to your ability, but keep the inhalation duration twice as long as the breath-holding time. It is recommended to repeat this daily before sleeping to get rid of negative thoughts.
  • Second method: Sit comfortably, place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen just below the ribs. Inhale through the nose feeling the abdomen move under your hand, then exhale through the lips while pressing on the abdomen to expel the air.
  1. Correct breathing to generate positive energy: It is best to do this exercise early every morning by inhaling through the nose for 6 seconds and exhaling for 6 seconds, repeating this process 10 times.
  2. Correct breathing to help concentration: Inhale through the left nostril for 10 seconds after closing the right nostril, hold your breath for 10 seconds, then exhale through the right nostril calmly with eyes closed.
