4 Main Reasons Why Your New Year’s Goals Fail

This year, I’m going to travel to 3 new places around the world! I’m going to buy my dream luxury car… I will, I will, I will!
Stop for a moment—think about these goals. Are they really achievable? Discover with us 4 of the main reasons why New Year’s goals often fail.

1– Setting Unrealistic Goals Without a Clear Plan

Make sure to set realistic goals that you can break down into smaller steps and spread across the year.
Write down your main goals—try not to exceed five—on a piece of paper or in a notebook. Also, write down the obstacles you may face and the tools you already have to help you achieve them. Visualize them. Imagine how you will be once you reach these goals, what you will feel—close your eyes and visualize.

Also be sure to set goals that can be broken into smaller, trackable steps you can spread throughout the year and review regularly to ensure you’re moving toward your big goal.

2– A Circle of Negative People

Have you ever shared your dreams and goals with someone, only for them to laugh sarcastically and tell you it’ll never happen? If so, our advice for the new year is to avoid such people—or at the very least, don’t talk to them about your dreams and goals.
Surround yourself with positive people who support and encourage you to achieve everything you want—instead of those who doubt every move you make.

3– How You Track Your Goals

At the start of every year, we tend to set goals and track them for a short while—then we get caught up in our daily routines and forget to follow through. This is actually one of the main reasons we fail to achieve them.
To accomplish anything, it’s important to track your progress and achievements regularly and consistently. Try to check in at least once a month. Choose a specific day each month and set a reminder to help you stay on track!

4– Lack of Self-Confidence

One of the most important things you need to succeed at anything in life is self-confidence. “I’ll never be able to do this!” “I’m not strong enough!” These are just some of the things we constantly say to ourselves without realizing how much they sabotage our dreams and ambitions.
This year, make it a goal: This year, I’ll speak to myself positively and encourage myself.

Important Note: Did you know that only 16% of people manage to achieve their New Year’s goals, while the majority give up within the first six weeks of the year?
