Practical Causes.. When Does a Person Feel Stressed?

Have you ever wondered about the reasons that make you feel stressed? And generally, when does a person feel stress? The causes that enhance feelings of stress and anxiety vary, and here are some of these causes:

  • Work-Related Pressures

The work environment includes many pressures that generate feelings of stress; for example, being part of a somewhat unsupportive or controlling team, facing discrimination and jealousy, working long hours, or working in hazardous conditions like mines and construction sites. Poor management is also a source of stress and nervous tension because it makes the employee unhappy and deprives them of job security, which may lead to resignation or job loss at any time.

  • Personal Life Pressures

Daily personal or social events affect a person’s mood, generating feelings of stress and pressure. Examples include suffering from an illness, experiencing emotional problems like divorce or separation from a loved one, or enduring trauma such as losing a loved one or facing any form of violence or abuse. These pressures are often accompanied by chronic psychological disorders such as depression or anxiety. A person may also feel stressed during life changes like moving to a new home, starting a new job, or having a child. Additionally, some daily tasks create burdens and responsibilities that can provoke stress and anxiety.

  • Financial-Related Pressures

Financial problems are among the most prominent causes that enhance feelings of stress and anxiety, such as not having a job to support oneself or family, lacking the basic essentials of a decent life like housing, food, and drink, or having debts that exceed a person’s ability to manage.

Psychological Causes of Stress?

Psychological state is closely linked to increased feelings of stress in a negative way; for example, anxious personality traits amplify stress significantly, as do various psychological disorders. The underlying psychological causes of stress include the following:

  • Feeling Fear and Uncertainty: Stress arises from other disturbing feelings like fear and lack of control over events; for example, you might feel stressed simply because you fear you won’t finish your studies before final exams.
  • Unrealistic Expectations: Seeking absolute perfection and expecting it in every event and task is exhausting and a source of stress and anxiety. So prepare yourself mentally to make mistakes or fall short in any task.
  • Overthinking: Excessive thinking is a cause of stress and increased pressure, especially when it focuses on past negative situations that bring worry and sadness.
  • Low Self-Esteem: Psychological problems significantly affect mood, such as low self-esteem and self-contempt, lack of self-confidence, and disruptions in family and friend support systems that intensify these feelings and unsettle the psyche.
